Sheldon & Victoria Rhodes

Executive Director / Artist

Sheldon has been involved in full-time children’s ministry with his wife Victoria since 1973. Together they have traveled to all 50 of the United States conducting an average of over 200 presentations a year. They have used puppets, gospel magic, juggling and a host of other tools to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sheldon is the founder and director of Jest Kidding, a non-profit 501.c3.

Victoria (Vicky), is the one that makes Sheldon look good. She is the one who makes many of the props that are used in the ministry. She really is a “Craft Queen”. There isn’t much that she can’t do. For the LOC project, she was one of the artist who did the paintings.

Jody Marvin

Associate Director

Jody has been involved in ministry and performing gospel magic from a young age. In addition, he plays several different musical instruments. Jody is passionate about teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and using his gifts and abilities to serve others (favorite verse: II Peter 4:10).

He created learnitonlinetoday.com to help others learn to use their God given talents and abilities. The Goliath’s Spear board voted him in as the Associate Director in December 2020. Jody and his wife Tina have 7 children and love the Lord and His Word. Jody is no stranger to ministry as he has served as a missionary for over 15 years, was the director of two different Christian camps, worker in children’s ministry, children’s pastor, camp speaker and vacation Bible school director.

Susan Jones

Artist / Board Member

Susan is not only a valued board member, she is also an amazing artist. She has a long history of painting using several different media. She was the one who recommended using gouache paint for the scenes for the Life of Christ.

Susan’s expertise was most valuable doing the faces of most of the characters in the LOC scenes. She spent far more hours than we could count painting detail after detail and traveling the miles to paint with Vicky. Susan was such a vital part of this project. Without her, this would not be a reality today.

Susan started her art studies in junior and senior high school. After high school, she attended what was then Grand Rapids Baptist College, now Cornerstone University, for a year. She returned to studying art, earning an Associate’s Degree in Commercial Art from Lansing Community College in 1977. Deciding she did not want to make a living using art, she later returned to Cornerstone University and completed a BA degree in Organizational Leadership. She also completed a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2007.

Having a passion for Christ and compassion for others, art, leadership and counseling have always been a useful way for her to bless others.
